TikTok Setup

Connect your TikTok Pixel to TrueSignal to send server-side conversion events via TikTok's Events API. This provides TikTok with more reliable conversion signals to optimize your ad campaigns.

Prerequisites:

  • A TikTok For Business account with an active Pixel
  • Your Pixel ID (found in TikTok Events Manager)
  • A TikTok Events API Access Token
  • TrueTracked pixel installed on your site

Step 1: Get Your TikTok Pixel ID

  1. Go to TikTok Ads Manager
  2. Navigate to Assets > Events > Web Events
  3. Select your pixel — the Pixel ID is displayed at the top (e.g., C1234567890)

Step 2: Generate an Events API Access Token

  1. In TikTok Ads Manager, go to Assets > Events > Web Events
  2. Select your pixel and click Settings
  3. Under Events API, click Generate Access Token
  4. Copy the generated token

Important: The access token is only shown once. Copy it immediately and store it securely. TrueTracked encrypts and stores this token — it is never exposed to your frontend.

Step 3: Connect in TrueTracked

  1. Go to Settings > TrueSignal in your TrueTracked dashboard
  2. Click Connect on the TikTok card
  3. Enter your Pixel ID
  4. Enter your Events API Access Token
  5. Optionally give the connection a Name
  6. Click Connect

Step 4: Verify Events

  1. Enable Test Mode on your TrueSignal connection
  2. Trigger a test purchase on your site
  3. In TikTok Ads Manager, go to Assets > Events > Web Events
  4. Click on your pixel and check the Test Events tab
  5. Verify that events appear with the "Server" source
  6. Once verified, toggle off Test Mode for production use

Events Sent

TrueSignal sends the following events to TikTok via Events API:

  • CompletePayment — When an order is completed, with order value, currency, and product data
  • ViewContent — Page and product view events
  • AddToCart — Cart addition events with product details
  • InitiateCheckout — Checkout initiation events

Each event includes enriched user parameters (hashed email, phone, IP, user agent, TikTok click ID) to improve match quality and attribution.

Troubleshooting

  • Events not appearing: Verify your Pixel ID and Access Token. The Pixel ID typically starts with C followed by numbers.
  • Access token expired: TikTok access tokens can expire. If events stop flowing, generate a new token in TikTok Ads Manager and update it in TrueSignal settings.
  • Low match rate: Ensure your TrueTracked pixel is capturing user data at checkout (email, phone). The more data available, the better TikTok can match events to users.
