Google Ads Setup

Connect your Google Ads account to TrueSignal to send server-side conversion events. This helps Google optimize your campaigns with more reliable conversion data that isn't affected by browser limitations or ad blockers.

Prerequisites:

  • A Google Ads account with conversion tracking set up
  • Your Conversion ID (from Google Ads conversion settings)
  • Your Conversion Label(s) for the actions you want to track
  • TrueTracked pixel installed on your site

Step 1: Get Your Conversion ID and Label

  1. In Google Ads, go to Goals > Conversions > Summary
  2. Click on the conversion action you want to track (e.g., "Purchase")
  3. Click Tag setup, then Use Google Tag Manager
  4. Note the Conversion ID (e.g., AW-123456789) and Conversion Label (e.g., AbCdEfGhIjK)

Tip: You can add multiple conversion labels to track different actions (Purchase, Add to Cart, etc.) through a single TrueSignal connection.

Step 2: Connect in TrueTracked

  1. Go to Settings > TrueSignal in your TrueTracked dashboard
  2. Click Connect on the Google Ads card
  3. Enter your Conversion ID
  4. Add one or more Conversion Labels — for each label, select the event type (e.g., Purchase, Add to Cart) and enter the label value
  5. Optionally give the connection a Name
  6. Click Connect

Step 3: Verify Conversions

  1. Trigger a test purchase on your site
  2. In Google Ads, go to Goals > Conversions > Summary
  3. Check the conversion action's Status column — it should show "Recording conversions"
  4. Allow up to 24 hours for conversions to appear in Google Ads reporting

Conversion Labels

Conversion labels map TrueTracked events to Google Ads conversion actions. Here's a typical setup:

Troubleshooting

  • Conversion action shows "Unverified": Double-check your Conversion ID and Label. Ensure they match exactly what's shown in Google Ads.
  • Conversions not recording: Google Ads can take up to 24 hours to show new conversions. If no conversions appear after 24 hours, verify your Conversion ID format starts with AW-.
  • Value not matching: Ensure your Shopify integration is connected so TrueTracked can pull accurate order values.
